I. DR STEELE’S QUARTERS – November 6, 1892, late evening. Lights were ablaze in the Medical Superintendent’s quarters as surgeons fought to save Dr Steele’s life. He had lived at Guy’s for over thirty years but now, seriously ill, his thoughts turned to a shameful episode in the summer of 1880 when Guy’s had turned on one of its own.
